About Shade House Development |
Shade House Development is the second collaboration between husband and wife team Matt and Tina Ford. It all started in 1993. Matt and Tina had just purchased their first house, a fixer-upper. With little money and even less time and experience, they pulled off an amazing remodel. From that point on, they were hooked.”
Matt then entered the residential construction Industry working for a top National Builder. Within a year, Matt was promoted to Project Manager, overseeing sales and construction for a quarter of the city.
In 1998, Matt and Tina decided it was time to strike out on their own. They started Esplanade Homes, a company that focused on building and remodeling high-end custom homes in the Houston area. Relying solely on word of mouth, a year-long waiting list formed. During this time, Matt and Tina became very interested in green building methods and the environmental impact of their building choices. They began to incorporate and even develop green technology and practices in their custom homes.
Matt and Tina wanted to create a new company specializing in green multi-family projects with the same integrity and attention to detail as their custom home business. Shade House Development was born.
